Credentials & Clinical Background

Dr. Getz completed her PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at Princeton University, followed by postdoctoral clinical respecialization in neuropsychology at Suffolk University. Her clinical training included placements at Harvard-affiliated hospitals and a highly competitive internship at the Miami VA, where she served as Chief Intern. During that time, she was awarded a national sponsorship by the Women in Neuropsychology (WIN) Committee within the National Academy of Neuropsychology.

She completed her neuropsychology residency in the Department of Neurology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where she was later appointed Instructor of Neuropsychology. Her early work as a clinician-scientist was recognized through co-principal investigator status on a multi-site pilot grant funded by the Evelyn McKnight Brain Foundation, in partnership with the Universities of Arizona and Florida. She also received the McKnight Clinical Translational Research Scholarship in Cognitive Aging and Age-Related Memory Loss.

As faculty at the University of Miami, Dr. Getz received the prestigious Clinical Scientist Fellowship from the Alzheimer’s Association for her work on decision-making and advanced care planning in dementia. She also received the University of Miami Medical Faculty Association Travel Award and served on the Women in Academic Medicine (WIAM) Committee—an initiative supporting mentorship, representation, and leadership advancement for women faculty at the medical school.

Dr. Getz is the creator of the Assessment of Situational Judgment (ASJ), a first-of-its-kind tool designed to identify susceptibility to financial scams before they happen—now informing national prevention efforts. She is the author of over 20 peer-reviewed publications, and her research has been cited more than 6,000 times across the fields of cognitive aging, concussion, neurodevelopment, and decision science. She co-authored *The Adolescent Brain*—one of the most widely cited reviews in developmental neuroscience—and her work continues to shape how clinicians and researchers understand cognition across the lifespan.

Before launching BrainTrust & Wellness, Dr. Getz worked in the neurology department of an internationally recognized academic medical center, where she provided neuropsychological assessments for a wide range of neurological and psychiatric conditions while mentoring clinical trainees and conducting translational research.
